New Construction Is the Right Time to Build a Real Water System

The most common gutter call we run in Northeast Florida is on a home or building three to eight years old where the builder-grade gutters have failed and the drainage was never planned. Builder defaults are sized down, hung on the cheapest hangers, and pointed at the lawn. New construction is the one moment in a building's life where the water system can be designed in from day one. Done right, that system runs for decades. Done by default, the failure clock starts ticking the day the homeowner moves in.

Design-phase consultation prevents builder defaults

We work with builders, GCs, and architects during design phase to size the gutters and downspouts correctly, place the downspouts where the drainage plan can actually receive them, and select the right material and color for the architectural intent.

NDS drainage designed alongside gutters, not after

Underground drainage routes, daylight points, foundation drainage, channel drains, and stormwater tie-ins are designed in coordination with the gutter plan. One scope, one design, one warranty. No retrofitting around what the builder happened to do.

GC and project management coordination, COIs provided

We coordinate with GCs, project managers, civil engineers, and site-work contractors on phasing, mobilization, and inspection. Certificates of insurance issued before mobilization on every commercial and large residential project.

New construction is not where we install builder-grade defaults. Every new construction install gets the same spec we put on premium retrofit work: 6-inch minimum, 7-inch on most premium residential, 8-inch on estate and commercial. Alu-Rex Double-Pro or traditional hidden hangers. Schedule 40 PVC or HDPE underground. NDS Certified drainage.

Builder, GC, and Architect Partnership Approach

Most builders default to whoever sends the cheapest sub. We do not compete on cheap. We compete on a finished water system that protects the building for decades, with documentation that satisfies civil engineers and a workmanship warranty that backs the install for the life of the building. Builders and GCs who care about the long-term reputation of their work bring us in.

  • Design-phase consultation. Albert walks the plan with the builder or architect during design, before downspout locations and drainage routes are locked.
  • Sizing recommendations. Gutter size, downspout size, hanger spec, drainage scope sized to the actual roof load, pitch, material, and site grading.
  • Civil engineer coordination. Drainage tie-ins, stormwater management, easements, and plat plan compliance.
  • Site-work coordination. Phasing with foundation, framing, roof, and landscape. We mobilize at the right point in the build, not when it is too late to do it right.
  • Inspection and walkthrough. Albert walks the finished install with the GC and homeowner before close-out. Lifetime workmanship warranty starts at occupancy.
  • Preferred installer programs. Builders running multiple homes can set up a preferred installer relationship with consistent spec, pricing, and turnaround.

Why it matters: Residential new construction is most cost-effective when gutters and drainage are designed and installed before final landscaping and hardscape. We mobilize at the right point in the GC schedule and finish in one day on most homes.

Drainage Is the Half Builders Almost Always Miss

The most common new-construction call we run on three-to-five-year-old homes is "the builder put gutters on but the downspouts point at the foundation and the yard floods every storm." That call is preventable. Drainage planned alongside the gutters during design phase is a fraction of the cost of retrofitting it after the landscaping is in. Gutter Pro is NDS Certified. On every new construction project, drainage is part of the same scope: Schedule 40 PVC or virgin HDPE underground from every downspout to a designed outlet, French drains and channel drains where the site grading needs them, foundation perimeter drainage on slabs with poor drainage. See the full scope on the NDS Certified drainage solutions page.

New Construction Gutter FAQ

Do you install gutters on new construction residential?
Yes. We are one of the few NE Florida gutter contractors that runs new construction at the same spec as our premium retrofit work. 6, 7, or 8-inch seamless aluminum or copper, sized to the home's actual roof load. Alu-Rex Double-Pro or traditional hidden hangers, Schedule 40 PVC underground extensions, NDS Certified drainage. Same crew, same warranty, builder coordination throughout the project.
Do you install gutters on commercial new construction?
Yes. Commercial new construction is a major part of our work. Office buildings, retail, hospitality, healthcare, schools, churches, institutional, and multifamily. 7 and 8-inch K-style seamless aluminum, custom box gutters, virgin HDPE underground drainage, COIs issued before mobilization, coordination with the GC, civil engineer, and site-work contractors.
When should I bring you in on a new construction project?
As early as design phase. Sizing decisions, downspout placement, drainage routing, and site grading all interact. Bringing us in during plan review prevents costly retrofitting later. At minimum, we need to be coordinated before landscape is installed so underground drainage runs can be trenched cleanly.
Do you coordinate with builders and GCs?
Yes. We coordinate phasing, mobilization, inspection, and close-out with the GC, project manager, civil engineer, and site-work contractors. COIs issued before mobilization. Preferred installer programs available for builders running multiple homes on consistent spec.
Can you work with our architect on the plans?
Yes. We work with architects during design phase on sizing, profile selection (K-style vs half-round vs box), material (aluminum vs copper), color coordination, and downspout placement that integrates with the architectural intent. Common on custom estate residential and architectural commercial.
Do you provide COIs for new construction projects?
Yes. Certificates of insurance issued to the GC, owner, property management, and any party that requires them before mobilization. Licensed and insured for residential and commercial work throughout Northeast Florida.
What gutter sizes do you install on new construction?
6-inch K-style on standard residential, 7-inch on premium residential and most smaller commercial, 8-inch on estate residential and larger commercial. Custom box gutters 6 to 10 inches on architectural commercial and parapet systems. Half-round in 6 and 7-inch on historic and architectural builds. We do not install 5-inch on any new construction.
Do you handle the drainage too on new construction?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. New construction is the one moment in a building's life where drainage can be designed and trenched in cleanly. NDS Certified drainage: Schedule 40 PVC or virgin HDPE underground from every downspout to a designed outlet, French drains, channel drains, foundation drainage, sump systems, and civil tie-ins. One scope, one warranty.
How much does new construction gutter installation cost?
Residential new construction installs typically run $1,800 to $12,000 depending on home size, gutter profile, downspout count, drainage scope, and any architectural detail. Commercial new construction runs $5,000 to $50,000 or more depending on building size, profile, drainage, and any custom box or copper detail. Itemized quotes after design walk.
Can you do preferred installer pricing for builders running multiple homes?
Yes. Builders running multiple homes on a consistent spec can set up a preferred installer relationship with predictable pricing, turnaround, and quality. Common with custom builders and small to mid-size residential builders across NE Florida.
Do you handle HOA approval on new construction?
Yes. We provide color samples, product datasheets, and material specs needed for HOA submission in covenant-restricted communities. Most NE Florida HOAs are familiar with our work and approvals are usually quick.
How long does new construction install take?
Most residential new construction installs run one to four days. Larger custom estates and commercial installs run two to seven days. Multifamily, institutional, and large commercial projects run longer with coordinated phasing. We mobilize at the right point in the build, coordinated with the GC schedule.
What is the warranty on a new construction install?
Lifetime workmanship warranty on labor and materials, on both residential and commercial new construction. Material manufacturers carry their own warranties on aluminum, copper, and gutter guards. The Gutter Pro workmanship warranty covers the install itself for the life of the home or building.
How do I get on the schedule for a new construction project?
Call or text Albert at 904-304-3199 or book online. For builders and GCs, design-phase consultation is typically scheduled within 48 hours. For commercial new construction, we coordinate timing with the GC, project manager, and the broader build schedule.
