FDM heavy-duty HDPE uses snap-fit fittings. Nothing is glued. The pipe and its connections flex with the soil instead of resisting it, which is why the joint stops being the weak point. The wall is solid and full-thickness in 100 percent virgin resin, rated for vehicle traffic, so it also survives a driveway or a truck tire - and the slotted collection pipe takes in roughly 11.5 square inches of open inlet per linear foot, far more than the small valley holes in corrugated tubing. When Schedule 40 PVC Is Actually the Right Call
Being honest about the trade-off is part of the spec. HDPE flexes, and on a run with almost no fall, any sag becomes a low spot that holds water. There are exactly three conditions where we specify Schedule 40 PVC instead:
- Extremely low slope. Where the available fall is so shallow that a flexible line could belly and pond, rigid pipe holds the grade.
- Penetrations through bulkheads or seawalls. Structural pass-throughs on Intracoastal and marsh-front properties need a rigid, sealable wall.
- Freshly backfilled ground likely to settle. Where the trench will consolidate after the work, rigid pipe resists the resulting sag.

What we never install: recycled single-wall corrugated pipe. No controlled resin mix, thin ribbed walls that trap silt and collapse under load, and soil or root intrusion that compromises the line - on average within about 3 years in Florida soil. We also do not install SDR-35, the thin-wall budget gravity-sewer PVC, because it is not rated for vehicle traffic.

Standing water three hours after the rain stops is not "Florida being Florida." It is a design problem with a known fix.
