Drainage system pricing

Materials specification

All Gutter Pro drainage installations use one of two pipe types:

  • Schedule 40 PVC — rigid, glued joints, pressure-rated. Standard for foundation discharge, sump discharge lines, and channel-drain ties.
  • Virgin HDPE — first-use high-density polyethylene. Used for long underground extensions where flexibility around obstacles matters.

We never install recycled corrugated drainage pipe. Big-box-store corrugated tubing collapses under foot traffic and lawn equipment, silts up internally because of its ridges, and is rooted through within a few seasons by oak and pine. Many drainage installs that "stop working" within 2-3 years were built with corrugated. Gutter Pro uses only Schedule 40 PVC or virgin HDPE so your drainage system lasts 20+ years.

Florida rainfall and gutter sizing context

Florida's rainfall intensity is what drives the recommendation for 6-inch and 7-inch gutters rather than the 5-inch standard used in lower-rainfall regions. Annual rainfall data by Florida region:

  • Jacksonville / Northeast Florida: 53 inches per year, peak intensity 9 in/hr, wettest Aug-Sep
  • St. Augustine / Coast: 54 inches, 9 in/hr peak
  • Orlando / Central FL: 52 inches, 9 in/hr peak
  • Tampa Bay: 51 inches, 9 in/hr peak
  • Miami / Southeast FL: 62 inches, 10 in/hr peak (7-inch recommended)
  • Tallahassee / Panhandle: 60 inches, 9 in/hr peak

The NRCA formula for gutter sizing combines roof square footage, roof pitch, and local rainfall intensity (5-minute peak). A 2,000 sq ft Jacksonville roof at standard 5/12 pitch under 9 in/hr peak rainfall produces approximately 12 GPM of runoff, which exceeds the 11 GPM capacity of 5-inch K-style and confirms 6-inch as the correct minimum for Florida.
